This module is designed to build a deeper understanding of how to safely and effectively work with aggressive and reactive dogs, while reinforcing the foundational skills required to do so. Aggression cases are not one-size-fits-all, and no single approach will apply to every dog you encounter. The goal of this badge is not to create instant expertise, but to strengthen your ability to read the dog in front of you, apply training principles with intention, and make safe, informed decisions in real time. We cannot overstate the importance of timing and skill level when it comes to foundational training. While you may be able to “get the job done” and produce a result that satisfies a client with average execution, that level of work is not enough when handling behavior cases. These foundational skills must be refined to the point of muscle memory so you can respond quickly, clearly, and safely—protecting yourself, your clients, and the public.
Through a combination of refresher material, new concepts, and real-world application, you will develop the problem-solving skills necessary to navigate complex behavior cases. Mastery in this area comes from time, repetition, and experience—this module is a step in that process, not the finish line. Because of the level of responsibility that comes with this work, this course will be held to a higher standard than previous courses. Assignments will be evaluated more rigorously, and attention to detail will matter. We are showing you our way of training and the level of timing and execution we expect from ourselves. This ensures that everyone entering the hands-on workshop is operating from the same standard, with a clear understanding of expectations and a consistent approach to handling these cases.
